Located in Newquay, England, South Fistral is a quality beach break that offers up good performance sections for manoeuvres. The waves here are not always the easiest to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. More lefts than rights, and a bit smaller usually than Fistral North.
What are the best surf conditions for South Fistral?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will usually have a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on a high to mid tide best.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 17 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 9 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
