Located in Andalucia, Los Cano is a quality left reef break that offers up a steep barreling take-off into a long workable wall. Will be solid when it breaks. The waves here are tricky to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rock-covered bottom. Watch out for urchins and shallowish rocks. There are a bunch of other waves in the bay, if this spot is too crowded take a look around.
What are the best surf conditions for Los Canos?
Gets good between waist-high to double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step up here when bigger. The break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here does not break very often (3/10) and will feel more crowded than it is due to the tight take-off spot (8/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works best on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 25 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 15 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
