Togat Nusa Retreat is a low impact, private eco-retreat that caters to small groups of up to 8 guests for specialized service. Nestled in the palm trees on the tropical paradise island of Potojat in the Mentawai chain. You are surrounded by beauty with a long left called “Scarecrows” peeling just out front beyond the white sand beach, and the view of other spots in the distance.
Accommodations come in 4 traditionally inspired Bungalows, each designed for comfort and built using recycled timbers and driftwood. Each bungalow accommodates 2 people (unless otherwise organized), for a total of 8 guests on the island at any one time. All have private bathrooms with running hot water. Togat Nusa Retreat maximizes its local surroundings and functions as a partial eco-resort, yet still delivers a very high standard of accommodation and personal space.
The Monkey Bar has been built with a creative design with rustic styling. The Bar was the first building on the island and is the center of all island activity. Featuring a panoramic view of the surf and sunsets, this is where guests will gather for meals, enjoy a drink, or simply to put their feet up, to good music. The bar stocks a variety of beers and spirits as well as making cocktails and fresh fruit smoothies.
Meals are a delightful affair with locally sourced fresh meats, fish, fruit, and vegetables, as well as home-baked bread and pastries. The professional Indonesian chef prepares a great balance of traditional and western dishes. Pre-dawn patrol breakfasts consist of fruit, yogurt and homemade granola, tea and coffee. Come in after your first days’ surf and order omelets, pancakes, French toast, homemade bread, bacon, and eggs. Lunches and Dinners are served buffet style and include pizza, burritos, pasta, curries and Indonesian dishes plus fresh fish and salads. Special diets can be arranged for upon prior request.
Daily transport to optimal surf breaks are included in either of the two boats. One is a traditional dugout canoe, powered by two 40 horsepower Yamaha engines will transfer you safely to and from the surf at speeds of up to 20 knots. The other is a 9m aluminum speedboat with a cabin, powered by 2 x 200 hp Suzuki engines, equipped with GPS, radio, safety equipment, a cooler with cool drinks. a large roof and padded seats with backrests. The drivers are experienced boatmen, and will easily impress with their knowledge of the surroundings.
There are plenty of things to do aside from surfing including fishing, snorkeling, poker, picnics, visits to the local villages, yoga classes, and jungle excursions.
