Located in Punta Hermosa, Peru, Santa Rosa is a fun reef break that offers up angry, powerful right-handers with the odd tube section. This spot is heavy, with strong currents, and the rock bottom ensures that there are consequences for falling on the 100-meter-long waves.
What are the best surf conditions for Santa Rosa?
Santa Rosa gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. Works best on a mid-tide, but will break through the tide.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to about 20°C (68°F). In the winter, a 3/2 is best when water temps drop to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
