Located in Punta Hermosa, Peru, Punta Rocas is one of the most consistent, quality, and crowded spots on the coast. It’s a peak that greatly favors the rights and offers up rippable walls through all sizes and at times barrels on high tides. The waves here can be challenging and break for up to 100 meters (about 328 feet) over a rock bottom. Most paddle out from the South where there is a shore break loved by bodyboarders. Make sure to pay someone to watch your car.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Rocas?
Punta Rocas gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is super consistent (9/10) and will always at least have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the East or Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to about 20°C (about 68°F). In the winter, a 3/2 is best when water temperatures drop to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
