Located in Punta Hermosa, Peru, Pulpos is a long stretch of exposed beach break that offers up some easygoing waves most of the time but at times steep barrels. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters (about 164 feet) over a sand bottom. If the swell is too big, it will close out the whole beach.
What are the best surf conditions for Pulpos?
Pulpos gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to about 20°C (about 68°F). In the winter, a 3/2 is best when water temperatures drop to 16°C (about 61°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
