Located in South Piura, Peru, Reventazón is a long stretch of exposed and wild beach break that offers up some powerful waves. The waves here are hard to surf, and the currents are hard to handle, breaking for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. It’s about 50 km long, so don’t expect to find anyone else out, but the surf is often too out of control to be good.
What are the best surf conditions for Reventaza’n?
Reventazón gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or stepping up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is super consistent (9/10) and will be uncrowded (2/10). The best winds are from the northeast. The best swells are from the northwest, southwest, south, and west. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 25°C (77°F). In the winter, a spring suit is best when water temperatures drop to 21°C (70°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
