Located in South Piura, Peru, Nonura is a quality left-hand point set-up that offers up some barreling waves and an incredibly strong current. The waves here are challenging and break for up to 100 meters over a rock and sand bottom. Needs a bigger swell to start showing, and is quite remote. Bring camping gear and supplies.
What are the best surf conditions for Nonura?
Nonura gets good between head high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, and then stepping up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the southeast. Nonura takes any swell from the northwest to the south and works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 25°C (77°F). In the winter, a spring suit is best when water temperatures drop to 21°C (70°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
