Located in Antofagasta, Chile, Pozo Verde is a small bay with two points, a right and left, at either end. Both serve up high-performance-oriented walls and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a rock and sand bottom. Ideal height at 6ft (2m).
What are the best surf conditions for Pozo Verde?
It gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard, then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will generally have a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a springsuit, in summer with the warmest water temperature at a pleasant 21°C (70°F) in January. In winter, we recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit with temps being a brisk 15°C (59°F)! See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
