Located in Santa Catarina, Brazil, Naufragados is a quality beach break that offers up some good quality barrels in beautiful scenery. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom. You’ll need a boat to get here unless a very long day hike is your thing; bring food and water.
What are the best surf conditions for Naufragados?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will be empty (1/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South and Southeast. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 26°C (79°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 19°C (66°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
