Located in Santa Catarina, Brazil, Galheta is a fun beach break that offers up some good barreling peaks when the conditions line up. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. This is also a nudist beach, so surf in the buff if you please.
What are the best surf conditions for Galheta?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, then a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the East, South, and Southeast. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 26°C (79°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 19°C (66°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
