Located in Santa Catarina, Brazil, Ferrugem is a good, punchy beach break that dishes up some powerful walls when a good swell is in the water. The waves here require some skill to ride and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom. There’s some good nightlife around here as well.
What are the best surf conditions for Ferrugem?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard, shortboard, then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will always have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts and a bikini in the summers when water temperatures rise to 26°C (79°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best for the 19°C (66°F) water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
