Located in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Itapeva is a pretty good beach break that offers up some fun sections for manoeuvres when the conditions line up. The waves here require a bit of skill and will break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a sand bottom. It’s better on smaller swells and glassy conditions.
What are the best surf conditions for Itapeva?
It gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the East, South, and Southeast. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summers when water temperatures rise to 24 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit). In the winter, a 4/3 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 13 degrees Celsius (55 degrees Fahrenheit). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
