Located in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Cal is a fun beach break that offers up some rippable waves when the conditions line up. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 150 meters (492 feet) over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Cal?
Gets good between chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will always have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the west. The best swells are from the east. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summers when water temperatures rise to 24°C (75°F). In the winter, a 4/3 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 13°C (55°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
