Located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Laje Rasa is a quality series of outside reef breaks that offer up quality and powerful lefts and rights on the rare occasions they get going. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a rock reef. Takes a 30-minute paddle or so to get out or a boat ride.
What are the best surf conditions for Laje Rasa?
It gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, then a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is not consistent (4/10) and might have a crew sometimes (5/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the East, Northeast, South, and Southeast. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summers when water temperatures rise to 26°C (79°F). In the winter, a spring suit will work when water temperatures drop to 21°C (70°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
