Located in Littoral Paulista, Brazil, Canto Bravo is an excellent reef break that offers up some treacherous rights with big gaping barrels. The waves here are heavy and dangerous, breaking for up to 100 meters over a shallow rock and sand bottom. You’ll need a boat or take the ferry to the island and then walk half the day.
What are the best surf conditions for Canto Bravo?
It gets good between head-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, then a step up, then a gun as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will be empty (1/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the South or Southeast. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round as water temperatures range between 29°C (84°F) and 26°C (79°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
