Located in West Ceara, Brazil, Barra do Ceara is a neighbourhood in Fortaleza that has a couple of beach breaks offering up some rippable peaks. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom. Watch out for bodyboarders, pollution, and crime.
What are the best surf conditions for Barra do Ceara?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller, then a shortboard, and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will get very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the East, North, Northeast, and Southeast. Works on a low to mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures vary between 29°C (84°F) and 27°C (81°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
