Located in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil, Abras is an excellent right-hand reef break that offers up a good barreling wall on the rare occasions it breaks. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a reef. Early sessions are often best as onshore winds pick up in the afternoon.
What are the best surf conditions for Abras?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and will be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the Northeast. Works on a mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts and a bikini year-round as water temperatures range between 29°C (84°F) and 26°C (79°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
