Located in Amapa, Para, and Maranhao, Brazil, Vila Do Algodoal is a good beach break that offers up some fun waves when the conditions line up. You’ll need to check this area after or before a bore day at higher tides. The whole coast here is full of mangrove swamps, estuaries, and small islands. It can be bewildering, to say the least, but it is ultra-remote and will be empty. The waves here are not easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Vila do Algodoal?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will be empty (1/10). The best winds are from the south. The best swells are from the east, north, northeast, and southeast. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures stay around 28°C (82°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
