Located in Amapa, Para, and Maranhao, Brazil, Sao Marcos is a poor-to-average beach break that offers up some easygoing waves for beginners and long boarders. The waves here are somewhat tricky to surf and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a sand bottom. The water quality is questionable, tankers pass by often, and shark attacks are a little too common.
What are the best surf conditions for Sao Marcos?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the southwest. The best swells are from the east, north, and northeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures stay around 28°C (82°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
