Located in Maui, Ma’alaea Bay is an excellent if rare right-hand reef break that offers up long, fast barreling rides when the conditions line up. The waves here are challenging to surf, the bottom is shallow and sharp, and the crowds are intense. The waves will break for up to 200 meters over a coral reef. This spot was threatened by harbour development some time back but has since been protected.

Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for advanced-level surfers.
