Located in Washington State, Elwa is a great rivermouth wave that peels over a rock bottom. The waves here can be tricky at times and peel down the line for up to 300 meters providing some great sections for manoeuvres and the occasional barrel.
What are the best surf conditions for Elwa?
Gets good from head high to overhead, but will work when smaller and larger. We recommend riding a shortboard here most days. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and is hardly ever crowded (3/10). The best winds are from the South, Southeast, and Southwest. Best swells come in from the Northwest or West. Works best on low to mid tides.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 wetsuit year-round. In the summer water temperatures rise to 12 degrees. In winter they drop to 7 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
