More on Hunting Island

Located in South Carolina, Hunting Island is a fun beachie that breaks over a sand bottom peppered with tree trunks. Yes tree trunks, the beach is rapidly eroding. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters providing some fun sections for manoeuvres and sometimes barrels.

What are the best surf conditions for Hunting Island?

Gets good from waist high to overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The break usually has something on tap (5/10) and can sometimes have a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells are from the East, Northeast, and Southeast. The best tides are high.

We recommend wearing boardshorts or a More...
