Located in South Carolina, Apache Pier is a fun pier setup that breaks over a rock and sand bottom. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 150 meters providing some fun sections for manoeuvres. People here like to think that the wave is worth fighting over, so locals can get a bit aggressive.
What are the best surf conditions for Apache Pier?
Gets good from chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This break is suited to all levels of surfers. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and can get quite crowded when good (8/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the Southeast. Works best on a mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps reach 29 degrees. In winter a 3/2 wetsuit will work in the 17-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
