Located in Georgia, Sugar Shack is a poor beachie breaking over a sand bottom. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters providing mushy sections for longboarding. Needs onshore winds close to shore to generate powerless waves perfect for beginners on longboards.
What are the best surf conditions for Sugar Shack?
Gets good from waist to head high. A longboard is the only board for this spot. This break is perfect for beginners to learn, any others will just be messing around. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and is always uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the North, Northeast, and East. Same for swell direction. Works best on mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 29 degrees. In winter a 4/3 is best when temps plunge to 14 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
