Located in Central South Oregon, Florence is a decent surf spot. Breaking off of a massive rock jetty next to a major river mouth. Two waves here on both sides of the South jetty, the southern side is more consistent. This wave is a bit tricky at times and breaks for up to 100 meters providing some great sections for manoeuvres. Watch out for ornery locals, massive currents, and great white sharks.
What are the best surf conditions for Florence?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller here and a shortboard when bigger. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and can get a touch busy on weekends in the summer (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 14 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 10 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
