Located in Southern North Carolina, Crystal Pier is an alright pier setup that breaks over a well-defined sandbar. The waves here can be challenging at times, but break for up to 50 meters providing some great sections to rip into or just cruise on. Can be popular with tourists in the summer.
What are the best surf conditions for Crystal Pier?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This beach is suitable for all levels of surfers depending on the size of the swell. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and generally has some guys and gals on it (7/10). Offshore winds from the West. Picks up all swell between South and North. Works on all tides but best on incoming.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 28 degrees. In winter the temps plunge to 14 degrees, so a 4/3 is best. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
