Located in Southern North Carolina, Bogue Pier is a quality pier setup that breaks over a well-defined sandbar. The waves here can be tricky at times but are easy to access and can break for up to 100 meters providing some excellent sections for turns and carves.
What are the best surf conditions for Bogue Pier?
Gets good from waist high to triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and is very crowded in summer but empty in winter (7/10). The best winds come from the North or Northwest. The best swells come from the East, Southeast, South, and Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 28 degrees. In winter a 4/3 wetsuit is required for the 14 degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
