Located in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Frisco is a good pier setup that breaks over a pretty consistent sandbar. The waves here can be steep and fast, breaking for up to 100 meters and providing some excellent sections for turns as well as the occasional barrel when good.
What are the best surf conditions for Frisco?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead. A shortboard is the way to go here when the waves are decent. This break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and can get busy at times (5/10). the best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South and Southeast. Works on all tides depending on the bars.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 28 degrees in August. In winter a 5/4 is best because water temperatures drop to around 12 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
