Located on the Outer Banks in North Carolina, Atlantic Beach is a fun beachy that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here can be challenging at times and break for up to 150 meters providing some great sections for turns or cruising.
What are the best surf conditions for Atlantic Beach?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when bigger here. This spot is suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will usually have a group of guys on it (7/10). The best winds come from the North. The best swells come from the East, South, southeast, and Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 28 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is bets when water temps drop to 12 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
