What are the best surf conditions for Kitty Hawk?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when the size arrives. Kitty Hawk is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and can get packed especially when smaller (8/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells come from the East, North, Northeast, South, and Southeast. works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 27 degrees. In winter a 5/4 is best when water temps drop to 7 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
