Located on Long Island in West New York, West End is an excellent jetty wedge that lurches forward over a rock and sand bottom. The waves here are pretty heavy for East Coast standards and can slam you into the shallow sand bottom easily. They break for about 50 meters, providing a potential backdoor barrel and an excellent air section. Locals can be a bit unruly towards outsiders.
Gets good when bigger, head high to triple overhead. A shortboard is the way to go here due to the steepness and quickness of the wave. West End is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers.
