Located in Ocean County, New Jersey, Surf City is a fun beachy that breaks over a sandy bottom. The waves here are straightforward to surf and rarely anything too special, breaking for up to 50 meters and providing fun sections for manoeuvres and cruising. One thing to note is that this beach has free roadside parking as opposed to many in the area.
What are the best surf conditions for Surf City?
Gets good from waist high to overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. All levels of surfers can find something fun here. The surf here is somewhat consistent (5/10) and can get crowded, especially in the summer (7/10). This beach is a swell magnet, picking up swell from the East, Northeast, South, and Southeast. Offshore winds come from the West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing either boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 24 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 wetsuit is required to surf when the water temperatures plunge to 5 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
