Located in Cape May, New Jersey, Strathmere is a collection of alright beach breaks that crash over sandy bottoms. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 150 meters providing great sections for manoeuvres.
What are the best surf conditions for Strathmere?
Gets good from head high to triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when small and bad and your standard shortboard here when it is good. All levels of surfers will find something here to surf. The surf is consistent (7/10) and usually uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Northwest, Southwest, and West depending on the section of beach. The best swell directions are the Northeast and Southeast. Works on all tides depending on the bars. Parking here can be a nightmare.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 25 degrees. In winter we recommend wearing a 5/4 in the 4-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
