Located a little north of Boston in Massachusetts, Devereux is an excellent, A-frame reef setup that breaks over a rock bottom. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 200 meters putting up some great barreling sections for tubes. A small take-off spot can lead to difficult crowd navigation – you’ll need to jostle for position here.
What are the best surf conditions for Devereux?
Gets good from chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. The break is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is not super consistent (4/10) and is generally crowded when the waves are good (8/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the East and Northeast. Works best on low to mid tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when the water temperatures rise to 19 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is necessary when the water temperatures drop to 4 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
