Located on the East coast of Florida, St. Augustine is a fun beachie that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 150 meters, providing some great bowling sections for manoeuvres. Watch out for jet skis and other watercraft.
What are the best surf conditions for St. Augustine?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. The break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and is generally crowded (6/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The best swells are from the East, North, Northeast, South, and Southeast. Works best on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 28 degrees. In winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures fall to 15 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
