Located in Volusia County on the East Coast of Florida, Daytona Beach is an alright collection of pier breaks that roll over sand bottoms. The waves here require a little bit of skill to surf well and break for up to 100 meters providing some fun sections for turns and hacks.
What are the best surf conditions for Daytona Beach?
Gets good from waist-high to overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when the swell arrives. This beach is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and usually has a local crew (6/10). The best winds are from the Southwest. The break works on all tides. The best swells come from the whole window East, North, Northeast, Southeast, and South.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 29 degrees. In winter a 3/2 is good in the 18-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
