Located in Brevard County on the East coast of Florida, Satellite Beach, also known as RCs, is home to an excellent reef break that unloads over a rock and sand-shelved bottom. The waves here can get big and heavy, breaking for up to 200 meters providing some hollow sections perfect for clocking in tube time. This is the spot Floridians go to for big waves, it holds size very well.
What are the best surf conditions for Satellite Beach?
Gets good from head high to triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers who can make the paddle out (fitness is a must). The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and can get crowded when good before it gets too big (9/10). The best winds are West. The best swells are big from the North and Northeast. Works on mid-tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 29 degrees. In winter a springsuit is perfect for the 21-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
