On the county line between Ventura County and Los Angeles County in Southern California, County Line/Yerba Buena is an excellent reef break that breaks over a sand and rock bottom. Some waves here can be a bit tricky and break for up to 100 meters. There are two breaks here, a rocky point on the northern end and a collection of reef break peaks to the south.
What are the best surf conditions for Yerba Buena/County Line?
Gets good between waist high and triple overhead. The reef break peaks handle more size. A longboard is best for the point, and shortboards are the play for the reef break peaks. Both breaks are best suited to intermediate or advanced surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and always has a group of guys on it (7/10). The best wind is offshore from the Northeast, but kelp beds will dissipate any effects of a bad wind. The best swells come from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works best on a mid-tide.
