Located in Santa Barbara County, Southern California, Tajiguas is a mediocre beachy that breaks over a boulder and sand bottom. The waves here can be a bit tricky to ride, breaking for up to 50 meters providing a section or two for turns. Pretty reliable for something surfable.
Gets good between waist high and overhead with a peaky swell. We recommend riding a shortboard here. Tajiguas is suited to beginner thru advanced surfers depending on the size of the swell. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and is generally uncrowded (4/10). The best swells come from the Northwest, West, Southwest, and South. The best winds come from the North. Works best on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer here More...
