Located in Santa Barbara County in Southern California, Beavers/Hazards is a decent beachy that breaks over a rocky and sandy bottom. The waves here can be peaky and fun but are usually not. Requires a bit of surf skill to surf well, the waves break for up to 50 meters providing steep sections for turns and hacks.
What are the best surf conditions for Beavers/Hazards?
Gets good between waist high and head high on wind swells, anything more and it will begin to close out. We recommend a shortboard for this break. The waves here are best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. It usually has a wave (5/10), but is almost always crowded when good due to the ease of checking the spot (7/10). The best winds are from the North, the best tide is low, and the best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when the water temperature rises to 17 degrees. In the winter the water temps drop quickly to 13 degrees, so we recommend a 4/3 wetsuit. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
