Just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County, Northern California, lies the aptly named break “Marin County”. It is a pretty good beachbreak that has plenty of lefts and rights over sandbars. Some waves here can be challenging, breaking for up to 50 meters and providing sections for turns and airs.
Gets good between waist high and double overhead, more and it starts to lose a lot of shape. A shortboard is best here, but something higher volume might work on smaller days. Marin County is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and usually has a group of locals on it (6/10).
