Located in Humboldt County, California, Samoa Peninsula is a 4 mile stretch of beach break that offers up some fun, rippable sections when the conditions line up. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. This beach holds more size than others in the area, but still likes those small clean swells.
What are the best surf conditions for Samoa Peninsula?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will be big enough to be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Southeast and light. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. Works on all tides but prefers incoming.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 here year round. Water temperatures range between 9 and 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
