Located in Palos Verdes, Los Angles County, Southern California, Haggerty’s is a fun point/reef break that rolls over a boulder covered bottom. The waves here can be a bit challenging, and break for up to 150 meters, providing opportunities for turns, hacks, and carves. There are three distinct take-off spots here, the main peak being the middle one.
What are the best surf conditions for Haggerty’s?
Gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend a shortboard here when bigger and a longboard when smaller. Haggerty’s is best for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and usually has a crew (6/10). Expect bad manners when it’s good. The best winds are offshore Southeast. The best swells come from the Northwest, Southwest, or West. This break does work on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temps rise to a lovely 19 degrees. In winter a 4/3 might be necessary as the water temps fall to a brisk 14 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
