Found in the Northern part of Mendocino County in Northern California, Virgin Creek is a fun beach break that rolls over a sand bottom. The waves here are straightforward to surf, and section for about 100 meters providing great sections for turns and carves.
What are the best surf conditions for Virgin Creek?
This spot gets good between waist high to double overhead. A longboard will work here when smaller and shortboard is best when bigger. All levels of surfers can find something here depending on size of swell. There is usually a wave here (5/10) and crowds are never a factor (3/10). East winds are offshore, works best on a mid tide, and the best swells come from the Northwest, West, and Southwest.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 wetsuit year round. Water temperatures hover between 13 degrees during the summer and 11 degrees during the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
