There are rules that regulate surfing here like time restrictions and distance from the pier.
What are the best surf conditions for Virginia Beach?
Gets good from waist high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. This beach is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and it gets crowded often (8/10). The best winds come from the West. The best swells come from the East, Northeast, South, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 27 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when the water reaches 5 degrees. See the temperature chart below fore more data on this.
