Located in Ocean City, Maryland, 48th Street is a fun beachie that breaks over a sand bottom. The waves here can be difficult to surf and break for up to 100 meters, throwing out barrels when the conditions are on. Lots of vacationers during the summer months.
What are the best surf conditions for 48th Street?
Gets good from chest high to double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard when bigger. This beach is suitable for all levels of surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and can get crowded in the summer and when the surf is good (8/10). The best winds are offshore from the West. The best swells come from the southeast. Better on lower to mid tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 25 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is necessary when water temps drop to around 5 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
