Located in the Southern Mentawai Islands, Indonesia, Green Bush is a world-class reef break that offers up a heaving, slabbing, and dangerous left-hand barrel. The waves here are heavy and break for up to 100 meters over a coral bottom. If you make the vertical drop, avoid the lip detonating on dry reef, and managed to have picked one with an exit, you will have one of the most intense barrels of your life.
What are the best surf conditions for Green Bush?
Gets good between just overhead and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, step-up, or a gun as the size picks up. This spot is suitable only to advanced barrel riders. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. In the summer water temperatures rise to 29 degrees before dropping only to 25 in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
