Located in Java, Indonesia, G-Land is the ultimate reef break, world-renowned for its seemingly endless, perfect, and consistent barrels. The waves here can be challenging and break for up to 300 meters in each section breaking over a coral reef. There are four distinct sections, the first being Kong’s. Kong’s can be a bit sloppy but offers up a long barrel when the swell is right. Kongs has the best swell window, so if it is small it is the place to go. Money Tree’s is the main peak here: Long fast walls and perfect almond barrels. The next section is really a transition to the fourth: Launching pads. This is a roll in, mushy section that when massive leads into the fourth and final section: Speedies. As the name suggests this section is fast, barreling from start to finish for up to 300 meters over the shallowest and sharpest part of the reef.
What are the best surf conditions for G Land?
Gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will usually have a crew, but spread out (6/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works best on a mid to high tide, but will break at low as well.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. In the summer water temperatures rise to 29 degrees before falling only to 25 in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
