We stayed for a few nights after a big 8 night family trip at Sofitel Nusa Dua.
Wouldn’t return but can elaborate!
The place has real wow factor when you arrive because there is no doubting the jaw dropping location atop the Uluwatu cliffs. One of its strongest selling points.
We booked a 3 bedroom ocean view villa with pool and it was dated and very obstructed- you mostly looked onto the ugly roofs of the two villas in front and glimpsed the water behind that, super strange and poor design which is a common theme for the resort.
Thank God the two 3 bedders in front were free and while they perhaps stingily did not offer an upgrade, even tho they were sitting there empty, they agreed to move us for the extra cost of that villa type.
Basically you want 808 or 807. They are right on the cliff top with jawdropping views and amazing pools. In that specific spot, we loved it and didn’t want to leave!!
We did the in villa bbq one night which was great.
Other than that tho the food wasn’t very good. Buffet was fine and service was lovely. But pretty standard. Coffee wasn’t any good, tasted like filter coffee not real coffee (if you’re American reading this don’t worry, it’s up to your low national standard haha!) The other food down near the main pool was adequate but not great. Overall disappointing food offering. Had dinner at Filini one night – the Italian next door at Radisson Blu. Highly recommended!!
The top floor 360 restaurant where the breakfast buffet and teppanyaki is is just so dated. And super low ceilings, weird design given you’d expect soaring ceilings to make the most of the view. Looks like a 1990s Chinese restaurant.
A bright spot is the spa – my husband and my sister both had treatments with Putu and she was reportedly SENSATIONAL and they returned both ravvvvvving about her!
It’s a very very easy 3 min walk down to the beach – don’t be put off. Just make sure you go at low tide so there is actual beach to walk on.
Staff are really lovely as you generally always get in Bali but overall the place is weirdly built and designed in parts, and really needs a major makeover. If you do stay tho, I can’t comment on the standard hotel style rooms but they look nice in pics and all have water views, but if getting a villa be very careful about the location! 807 and 808 will blow your mind but the ones behind will really not!
